"The way you wake up sets the tone for your entire day." Research shows that being jolted awake from sleep is both unnatural, and can leave us groggy for hours; while waking in light sleep is how we naturally wake up without an alarm, and feel rested and refreshed. That’s where TAVO comes in.
How TAVO Works Differently
Traditional alarms use sound to force you out of deep sleep, which often leads to grogginess and stress. TAVO works with your body’s natural sleep cycles instead.
TAVO gently wakes you in your lightest stage of sleep using a soft vibration on the inside of your wrist. It tracks your movement to detect light sleep within your chosen wake up window, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
When TAVO catches you in light sleep, waking up feels easier, calmer, and more natural. You may even notice waking up on your own before the vibration starts, which means your body reached light sleep naturally at the end of a cycle.
If TAVO doesn’t catch you in light sleep, it will still vibrate to wake you at the end of your window.
With that said, lets go over some tips to get you the best results.

1. Adjust Your Wake Up Window
We recommend a 45–60 minute wake-up window.
Why? Because it gives TAVO more chances to find you in light sleep.
In the app, you’ll see your sleep cycles mapped on a graph. Make sure the sleep cycle lines align with the top of the graph - that way you’re sleeping long enough to finish a full cycle. Ending a cycle before waking can mean the difference between groggy and energized.

2. Wear On Inside of Your Wrist
Wear the TAVO on your dominant hand before bed.
The chip should rest on the inside of your wrist.
The strap should be snug but never tight.


3. Be Consistent
This is important. TAVO teaches your body to wake up naturally, instead of being forced awake by sound. That shift can feel different at first.
Many users notice an immediate improvement from waking in silence, and the benefits continue to build as TAVO consistently wakes you in light sleep, making mornings easier over time.
Neuroscience shows that lasting habit change takes consistency. Dr. Caroline Leaf’s research on habit formation suggests it takes about 63 days for the brain to fully rewire a habit, with the first 21 days building new patterns and the following 42 days strengthening them.
In short, the more consistently you use TAVO, the calmer and easier waking up becomes.

Use Power Nap mode (under 20 minutes) to feel refreshed without grogginess.
Use the Long Nap setting, which is the length of a full cycle, when you want deeper rest. Both can be game-changers on busy days.

The Backstory
"I got into a bad longboarding accident when I was 16, I fell and cracked my skull..."
"...It was a miracle that I survived. Sleep played a huge role in my recovery, doctors prescribed me a minimum of 10 hours of sleep.
Because of the brain injury I became super sensitive to traditional alarm clocks. This led me to discover sleep cycles that our body goes through and I realized how fundamentally outdated traditional alarm clocks are.
3 years later in college, I started working on a solution. Got accepted to our university accelerator, built a prototype, and sold it as a 'private beta'. A couple years later TAVO V1 was born, a quieter & smarter alarm, that optimizes your sleep and preserves the sleep of those around you."
